Traditional Hummus with oil

INGREDIENTS

  • 1/3 cup extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 – 15oz can chickpeas, rinsed and drained
  • 3 tablespoons tahini, plus more to taste
  • 3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice, plus more to taste
  • 1 teaspoon  sea salt, plus more to taste
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic (1 clove),

PROCEDURE

  1. Throw all of the ingredients into your Vitamix, high-speed blender, or food processor and blend on high until smooth and creamy.
  2. Feel free to add more or less of any ingredient to suit your taste.
  3. Garnish with an oil drizzle and serve with crackers, veggie sticks, fruit or in your favorite wraps.

I absolutely love hummus and I would love to make this and give it a try. I know this is probably a dumb question, but what is tahini? Sounds like a fish, but I am sure it is a type of bean maybe? Do you have any recipes for adding “toppings” on the hummus to jazz it up? Thanks!

    LOL. Tahini is simply sesame seeds grounded up into a creamy butter. One could use an unsweetened sunflower butter (which I love), in place of it. I love roasted red pepper hummus. I will definitely add those recipes soon. Thanks for the suggestion and your comment.
